Dr. Caragan’s preference is to help treat pain syndromes and take off addiction pain medicines and drugs. He believes in doing the least amount of harm to patients and allowing the patients’ body to heal itself. This can be done through treatments such as medical acupuncture and osteopathic manipulative therapy. His preference is to use these types of treatments as an alternative to drugs when appropriate. Dr. Caragan avoids prescribing narcotics to interfere with treatments.
Since Dr. Caragan has studied other forms of medical treatment, his extensive knowledge has enabled him to incorporate both science and art into the practice of medicine. He views medicine as one part science and the other part art. He believes the study of medicine requires the aid of science while the practice of medicine is an art. By viewing medicine as both a science and an art, Dr. Caragan is able to treat patients using a holistic approach – he sees patients as a person, not a disease.
